A College Station woman is accused of trying to hit her boyfriend with her car, and in the attempt the car struck a gas meter that started a fire.

The Thursday evening incident on Potomac Place closed Southwest Parkway between Glade and Anderson for more than three hours.

Witnesses told police the man and the woman arguing in the driveway of a fourplex. The man was in front of the car and the woman was behind the wheel when she tried to hit him.

Witnesses said the woman chased him around the fourplex to the rear of the building, when the car struck the meter.

After the collision the woman ran away but was found a short time at her home.

25 year old Cree Dennis was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon-family violence and striking the gas meter.

College Station firefighters spent more than one hour to extinguish the fire to the car, and electricity was turned off in the area due to the fire being under power lines.

Atmos Energy crews fixed the gas leak.
