Daughter Of A Police Detective Saved By A Patrol Officer

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) _ A Central Texas police officer who pulled over a woman for illegal use of a cellphone while driving has saved her from choking on some food.

Austin police on Monday released patrol car video of the July 5 incident in which the choking woman apparently was trying to call 911.

Officer Dustin Clinkscales walks to the woman’s car and is heard asking, “Are you OK? Are you choking?”

Clinkscales realizes the driver couldn’t breathe and he did the Heimlich maneuver. He’s heard asking, “Did you get it?”

He managed to dislodge the food but the woman, fighting to breathe, then fainted. She was transported to a hospital and examined, as a precaution.

The woman, who’s the daughter of an Austin police detective, was eating a chicken biscuit when she choked.
