Bombers’ All-Stars Shine Bright in TCL All-Star Festivities

Victoria, TX (July 8, 2015) – The Texas Collegiate League held its annual Home Run Derby and All-Star Game on Tuesday night at Riverside Stadium in Victoria.

Twelve Brazos Valley Bombers were selected to the All-Star Game, as well as head coach Curt Dixon. Coach Dixon and the Bombers players represented the North All-Star Team, who won the 2015 rendition of the TCL All-Star Game by a score of 4-1. All twelve Bombers appeared in the game; with catcher Henri Lartigue, first baseman Geonte Jackson, shortstop Trent Goodrich, third baseman Garrett Benge, right fielder Blake Kopetsky, designated hitter Tyler Lawerence, and pitcher C.J. Gregory starting the ballgame.

Lawerence went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI to take home MVP honors, but that was not his first award of the evening. Before the game, the TCL Home Run Derby was held, showcasing some of the TCL’s premier power hitters. Lawerence hit five home runs in the first round and two more in the final round to take home the crown.

After the All-Star Break concludes, the Bombers will begin the home portion of the second-half on July 9 against the Acadiana Cane Cutters. July 9 will be “9 Innings of Winnings,” presented by Scoots; with prizes given away every inning as well as a scooter giveaway. July 9 also falls on a Thursday which means Thirsty Thursday: when beer; margaritas; and soft drinks are one dollar, thanks to Western Beverages.

July 10 will be the second game of the two-game series against the Cane Cutters and will be Ladies’ Night, presented by Funky Cheveux. Ladies’ Night festivities are highlighted by a Diamond Dig, where participants can dig up the infield for a free diamond, thanks to Montelongo’s Fine Jewelry. July 10 will also be FANtastic Friday at Cellucor Field.
