Henry Wins Second Gold with 800M Free Relay

Gwangju City, South Korea — Texas A&M senior Sarah Henry tallied the second gold medal of the 2015 World University Games when Team USA’s 800-meter freestyle relay was victorious on Tuesday at the Nambu University International Aquatics Center.

Henry, from Garner, N.C., earned the medal after helping the Americans emerge as the fastest qualifiers from prelims with a time of 7:56.72, but did not swim in the final when Team USA posted a winning time of 7:53.88.

In other action involving Aggies, sophomore Franko Jonker (Pretoria, South Africa) advanced to the semifinals of the 200-meter breaststroke, but she didn’t advance to the final. Jonker won her preliminary heat in 2:29.93 and was even faster in the semis with a time of 2:29.52.

Diver Cameron McLean (Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada) placed seventh in the men’s 1-meter springboard with a score of 337.90.
