Texas A&M women’s golf posted its sixth top 18 finish in eight years under head coach Trelle McCombs, as it earned an 18th place finish at the NCAA Championships in Bradenton, Fla. The Aggies have finished in the top 23 nine times in the past 12 years, and have 13 Top 25 NCAA finishes in its history.
The 18th-place finish caps off a banner year for Texas A&M as a team, as the Aggies won their first SEC title, and re-wrote most of the record book. The 2014-15 Aggies set a new team mark for scoring average (72.58), birdies (528), par-or-better rounds (13), individual scoring average (either Szeryk, 71.86 or Navarro, TBD), individual birdies (Szeryk, 127), and individual par-or-better rounds (Szeryk, 23), all without starting a single junior or senior in the lineup in any tournament.
In addition, the Aggies won three tournaments for the fourth time in school history, had five of the six lowest team rounds in school history, and the three lowest team tournament scores in school history.
Texas A&M missed advancement to the top 15 by just three strokes after the conclusion of three rounds. The Aggies shot 933 (+69) over three rounds.
The Aggies season concludes as Marijosse Navarro plays the final round of the 2015 NCAA Championships as an individual, starting at 11 a.m. CT. Next season, Texas A&M will host an NCAA Women’s Golf Regional at Traditions Club in Bryan from May 5-7, 2016.
