Online Parking Permit System Coming to Blinn College

Blinn College students will no longer have to wait in line and fill out paperwork to get parking permits and pay fines.

The board of trustees at their last meeting approved an online system that will be used at all four campuses.

Director of Strategic Initiatives John O’Neill says this subject has been discussed since 2008 and is listed by students as the number one issue on the Bryan campus.

O’Neill says this will speed up what has been a manual process of processing permit requests and handling more than 60 parking tickets that are written each day on the Bryan campus. Students wait in long lines at enrollment services to pay their tickets with no online options.

Trustees also approved the purchase of parking meters for 150 reserved spaces on the Bryan campus that O’Neill says are for short term use. O’Neill says this will save money for those who are not full time students.

Registration for online parking at Blinn is slated to start in mid-August.
