Prison and a five figure fine follows a plea agreement made by a Bryan gang member this week in Brazos County District Court.

20 year old Virgil Ponce was convicted of evading arrest, a felony, and 11 counts of misdemeanor illegal activity within a gang zone.

Assistant District Attorney Cory Crenshaw says Ponce, who has been in jail since his arrest in May, will be held until February of 2012. Ponce was also fined $44,000.

Crenshaw says the remaining gang members are awaiting trial on similar charges. The group was arrested following a gang-related murder in Bryan last Mother’s Day weekend.
