Bryan school board members continue to support a new teacher pay plan that includes performance bonuses.
During a board workshop this week, Deputy Superintendent Dr. Timothy Rocka and consultant Emily Douglas-McNab reported on recommendations made by a 28 member committee, nearly half who are teachers.
There was no discussion of the amount of any bonuses, any increases in base pay for existing Bryan teachers, or changes to supplemental pay for those in hard to find positions.
Teachers would have to meet individual requirements…including having no more than four unexcused absences…in addition to their campus achieving minimum results on state test scores.
The bonuses would be paid the following school year, after the district received data from the state. Teachers who leave Bryan ISD for another district would not receive the bonus.
