Bryan School Board’s Opposition to Appraisal District Building

The Brazos Central Appraisal District’s (BCAD) proposal for a new office building has run into more opposition.

Two members of the Bryan school board, including president David Stasny, balked at the $3.8 million dollar package during Monday’s school board workshop.

The chairman of the appraisal district board, Bill Lero, says that’s the maximum cost.

School board member Trey Moore thought the appraisal district could find land at $4 to $6 a square foot, not the $8.50 for the property located off Copperfield near University.

Lero says the higher price takes into account a parking lot, three curb cuts, and utilities.

The board takes action February 16, while the appraisal district returns before the Brazos County commission Tuesday seeking their approval.
