BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After helping the Aggies extend their season-long winning streak to six games, Texas A&M men’s basketball junior Danuel Housewas named SEC Player of the Week on Monday by the league office.
The 6-foot-7, 207-pound guard from Fresno, Texas, averaged 17.5 points last week while guiding the Aggies to wins at Auburn and at home vs. Vanderbilt. House shot 66.7 percent from the field, including a blistering 72.7 percent from 3-point range as the Aggies took over sole possession of second place in the SEC standings.
During Tuesday’s victory at Auburn, House began game on a torrid pace, scoring 13 points in game’s first 5:16 by going 4-for-4 from 3-point range. The Fresno, Texas, native finished with a game-high 22 points, shooting 7-of-10 from the floor with an incredible 6-of-7 mark behind the 3-point arc. Back in action Saturday against Vandy, House came off the A&M bench to contribute 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting.
House paces Texas A&M and ranks fourth in the SEC by averaging 16.6 points per game during league play. He became the second Aggie to garner the award this season, joining fellow junior Alex Caruso, who was named Co-SEC Player of the Week on Dec. 8.
