Local Representation on One of Two New Statewide Committees

There is local representation on a committee formed by Governor-elect Greg Abbott to investigate the Health and Human Services Commission. Texas A&M System vice chancellor and chief financial officer Billy Hamilton is one of four people serving on what Abbott calls a strike force. Hamilton, a former state senator, is joined by the chief financial officer of the Texas Department of Agriculture Heather Griffith Peterson, former Texas District Judge F. Scott McCown, and former State Representative Talmadge Heflin.

Meantime, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick named 55 business leaders from the private sector to six advisory committees. None of the 55 are from Brazos or surrounding counties. Patrick’s committees will advise him and the Senate on taxes, energy, transportation, water and the economy.

Below is the list of Patrick’s committees and its members.
