Brazos County Commissioners Approve New Criminal Justice Software Package

It’s going to take almost five years for Brazos County to get new computer software for the criminal justice departments.

County commissioners this week approved a contract with a new provider, Tyler Technologies, for $3,852,282, to replace 15 year old software affecting among other areas the courts and law enforcement.

This follows the county’s original provider, AMCAD, going out of business last summer then filing bankruptcy.

Comments before the unanimous vote came from Commissioner Sammy Catalena, who was part of the committee that developed the recommendation.

The county continues legal action against AMCAD in an effort to recover $2.6 million dollars spent on developing software that was never completed as part of the original agreement was approved in November 2011.

Installation of the Tyler Technologies software isn’t expected to be completed until October 2016.
