Public feedback has resulted in the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) changing plans for addressing safety concerns in Grimes County at the intersection of Highway 105 and FM 1774.
TxDOT originally planned to build an interchange with a bridge on 1774 over 105.
Instead, an improved at-grade crossing will be built that will straighten curves on 105 east and west of 1774.
Traffic signals will be installed and there will also be a median on 105.
The state will be acquiring 10.5 acres of land for the project but there will be no relocation of homes or businesses.
Construction is scheduled to start this summer.
TxDOT is holding a public hearing the evening of January 27th starting at 6 in Stoneham at High Point elementary school.
