Cameron Yoe Wins 70-40 for 3rd Straight Title

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) _ Cameron Yoe senior receiver Aaron Sims caught six passes, three of them for touchdowns, as the Yoemen won the 3A Division I state championship Thursday with a 70-40 victory over Mineola at AT&T Stadium.

Yoe’s 70 points tied the record for points scored in an 11-man Texas state title game, set by Stephenville in 2012 with a 70-35 win over El Campo in the 3A Division I championship. The combined score of 110 points fell 8 points shy of the record set by Sulphur Springs and Dayton in the 2008 4A Division II state title game.

Thursday’s win in front of 13,561 marks the third straight state title for Yoe (12-4) and fourth overall in school history.

Sims was the offensive MVP of the game with 153 receiving yards.
