COLLEGE STATION- Courtney Walker was named to the Naismith Trophy Top 50 Watch List by the Atlanta Tipoff Club. Walker was previously named to the Wade Trophy Watch List and the Wooden Award Top 30.
Walker has helped the No. 4 Aggies to a 10-0 record this year, by averaging 16.0 points per game. She was an AP All-American in 2013-14, and was selected to several Preseason All-American teams in 2014-15.
Walker is one of 25 players to be selected to the watch lists for all three of the Wade Trophy, Wooden Award and Naismith Trophy.
Each year, the Atlanta Tipoff Club’s Board of Selectors chooses the 50 pre-season “Naismith Watch” list as well as the mid-season team of 30 candidates. The Naismith voting academy narrows that group down to four finalists who will make up the final ballot. The voting academy, comprised of leading basketball journalists, coaches and administrators from around the country, base its criteria on player performance throughout the season.
Walker and the Aggies return to action on Dec. 13 at 1:30 p.m. to host Houston in Reed Arena. Coverage of that game is on SEC Network Plus.
