Bryan City Council Renews RVP Contract on Split Vote

Another split vote at this week’s Bryan city council meeting approved the yearly contribution to the Research Valley Partnership.

Al Saenz, who along with Rafael Pena voted against the $350,000 dollar payment, says city staff can recruit major employers for less money and spend the savings on capital improvement projects.

 

 

 

Jason Bienski, Ann Horton, and Art Hughes voted to continue with the RVP, which is a joint effort with College Station, Brazos County, Texas A&M University, Blinn College, and private sector employers local businesses.

 

 

Supporters cited the RVP in recruiting Axis Pipe and Tube, new manufacturers to the biocorridor, and Suddenlink’s recent announcement that B/CS will be their first market to have gigabit high speed Internet.
