The former home of the Bryan police department, renovated but never used as a city hall annex, is being sold.
The city council has authorized the mayor to execute the sale of the building at 29th and Texas to Bryan-based Otis Instruments.
Deputy City Manager Joey Dunn says the building, vacant the last five years, no longer fits any current expansion plans.
Dunn says the building was originally built in the early 1970’s as a bank, then the city acquired it in the 1980’s.
Dunn says the council approved placing the property on the market for sale or lease about six months ago.
Dunn says the sale may be finalized as early as next week. The purchase price has not been finalized. Dunn says proceeds from the sale can be spent on city building purchases and repairs.

Otis Instruments president Wayne Carroll says they were looking at several options as the company was expanding from their current home on Villa Maria.
Carroll, who has other business interests in downtown Bryan, is looking forward to the relocation, which will take place in January or February of 2015.
Otis, which manufactures gas detection equipment for the energy industry, has a current employment of nearly 50. Carroll expects to add two or three new positions with the move then bring on a few more later in 2015.
