Blinn College Trustees Special Meeting Monday Night

The Blinn College board of trustees has called a special meeting Monday evening.

Trustees are scheduled to meet behind closed doors regarding new campuses in Brazos County and personnel matters, which includes an evaluation of District President Harold Nolte…who has support and opposition from separate faculty groups.

Monday’s meeting is in Brenham, starting at 6:30 p.m. The meeting notice calls for receiving up to 30 minutes of comments from the public before going into executive session.

Trustees will again consider finalizing the purchase of the Lynntech, formerly Westinghouse property in College Station and will again discuss and consider accepting donated property in Bryan across Old Reliance Road from Rudder High School.

In addition to evaluating Nolte, trustees could also take up other unidentified personnel matters, including “the appointment, employment, evaluation, reassignment, duties, discipline or dismissal of Public Employees or Officers.”

Following the executive session, votes could be taken on any of the items discussed, along with issuing bonds to purchase the Lynntech/Westinghouse property.

On April 23, trustees moved forward with the purchase subject to a 60 day due diligence period. A Blinn spokesman says the college has exercised its option to extend it by an additional 30 days.
