A Bryan gang member with five prior convictions for evading police is back in jail after trying to run away from a Bryan policeman Friday afternoon.
The incident began with a traffic stop on Boonville Road near the freeway.
According to the arrest report, 24 year old Frederick Robertson Jr. was stopped because his car had an outdated tag and the officer recognized him from a chase in August 2012.
The patrolman reported Robertson ran about three blocks, through the Best Western hotel, and into the the IHOP restaurant.
Surrounded by diners, Robertson was arrested without incident on a felony evasion charge and was jailed on a $50,000 bond.
The patrolman asked for a higher bond based on Robertson’s criminal record, which includes 12 drug-related convictions.
The arresting officer also reported Robertson’s probation has been revoked four times, he was arrested in January for eight local warrants, and was arrested in February after failing to appear in court.
Robertson is also on parole for a narcotics conviction, which was supposed to end in May.
