A Bryan man released from prison four years ago from a 1994 murder is back in jail. Bryan police reported on Wednesday night, 37 year old Richard Vasquez did not pull over after making turns into oncoming traffic. A chase ended near Milam Elementary school at Mockingbird and Palasota. Officers found a nine-millimeter handgun in Vasquez’s pickup with the serial numbers scratched off. According to the arrest report, Vasquez said he had the gun because he feared retaliation related to the 20 year old murder.
A second arrest has been made in an armed robbery over a drug sale in College Station last week. 24 year old Marcus Joshua of Bryan was picked up by Bryan police Wednesday afternoon during a traffic stop at Texas and Villa Maria. Joshua is accused of pulling out a handgun and taking back a quarter pound of marijuana along with taking 160 dollars from the buyer of the drugs. And according to the arrest report, investigators used Facebook to get the cell phone number of the first suspect, who was tracked down by monitoring his phone signal.
