Second Bryan Fire This Week within Blocks of First

Two Bryan house fires this week were ruled accidental. A chimney fire on Monday, Jan. 27 and kitchen fire on Wednesday, Jan. 29 left residents searching for a place to stay.

Deputy Fire Marshal William Bouse said a neighbor noticed a chimney on fire alerted residents of a duplex on Elliott Street, north of the Boonville Cemetery, Monday. Fire crews said smoke and flames weren’t visible inside. Bouse said the fire has been ruled accidental, but serves as a reminder to inspect and maintain chimney flues.

A few blocks away, on Wednesday, an unattended electric skillet was the source of a kitchen fire in a duplex on Pecan Ridge. Bouse said the residents had left to purchase more food and were not home at the time. The fire burned through the roof and expanded into the adjacent unit.

Details about Wednesday’s fire from Bouse are below.
