Eric Hurt New CS Fire Chief

College Station has a new fire chief.

Eric Hurt, who has been with the department for thirty-two years and served in almost every job position, has been interim chief since the retirement of R.B. Alley in June.

New fire chief announced for College Station

Eric Hurt has been named fire chief for the City of College Station.

Hurt is a 32-year veteran of College Station Fire Department and has served as interim chief since June, following the retirement of R.B. Alley.

City Manager Kelly Templin announced Chief Hurt’s promotion to the department and the entire organization Tuesday morning.

“Chief Hurt is a career professional in the fire services industry who has held almost every position in our fire department with distinction,” Templin said.  “He’s the right person to oversee such a critical city function during this time of rapid growth in College Station and at Texas A&M.  The long-established relationships he holds within Brazos County’s public safety community ensure a high level of continuity for CSFD.”

Chief Hurt holds a number of industry certifications and is a graduate of the Executive Fire Officer Program offered by the National Fire Academy.

He also holds a bachelor’s degree with Fire Administration Emphasis from University of Western Illinois and an associate degree in Fire Science from Blinn College.

“It’s truly an honor to be selected to lead a group as fine as the College Station Fire Department,” Hurt said.
