TexAgs Reports Bowen Loftin Moving to Missouri

TexAgs reports Texas A&M University President Bowen Loftin is taking a similar position at the University of Missouri.

According to the University of Missouri System, the next Chancellor of the Columbia campus will be introduced Thursday morning at 11.

Like Texas A&M, Missouri is a land-grant university.

Dr. Loftin, a 1970 A&M graduate, was named the university’s 24th president on February 12, 2010. He had served as interim president since June 15, 2009.

Prior to that, he spent four years as vice president and chief executive officer of the university’s marine-oriented branch campus, Texas A&M University at Galveston, where he also was professor of maritime systems engineering.

When Loftin announced last July he was stepping down as A&M President, his last day was scheduled to be January 13, 2014.
