A truck carrying oilfield equipment caused a power outage, grass fire, and traffic delay Tuesday morning.
Bryan police officer Kelley McKethan says this was on the freeway southbound approaching the Tabor Road exit.
McKethan says the oilfield equipment somehow caught a phone line that was connected to a BTU power pole. The electric line became tangled with the phone line that fell to the ground, which was the ignition source of the grass fire.
Freeway traffic was moved to the service roads while the fire was extinguished and the lines were moved.
BTU reports 424 customers lost power. Service was restored to most in under 20 minutes and the rest in 45 minutes.
