Two Houston men arrested for burglary in Burleson County might be linked to similar crimes in Washington County.
Christine Labertew with the Burleson County Sheriff’s Office says Thursday, a man came home to find someone pulling out of his driveway on County Road 449, which is off FM 60 east of Lyons.
She says the victim gave a clear description of the vehicle before he even knew he had been broken into and robbed, and that helped officers to find a car with stolen items that included jewelry, coins, and a metal lock box, driven by Tony Chavis, 35, and Arthur Lewis, 28.
Labertew says they were stopped just inside the Washington County line.
She says the crime was committed in broad daylight while the man was not at home, so it’s important for neighbors to help protect each other by noticing and reporting suspicious activity.
She also advises homeowners to be aware of their surroundings and to lock their homes and vehicles.
Bond for each man is set at $270,000.
