For more than 12 hours, authorities in Calvert thought two men had barricaded themselves in a home…one of them a suspect in a Bryan carjacking last month.
Robertson County Sheriff Gerald Yezak says the incident began shortly before 10:30 p.m. Monday in Hearne when police were involved in a chase.
Yezak says the white Mercedes pulled into the yard of a home and three men ran away from the car.
One of the three inside the car was detained then released and it was thought the other two went inside the house.
After residents who were inside the home came outside, a search was done by a robot from College Station police and a SWAT team from Bryan discovered no one was inside.
Yezak says one of the two men at-large is 27 year old Erric Portis Jr. of Calvert, who the sheriff says is accused of participating in the July 30th carjacking on Oaklawn in Bryan that preceded the armed robbery of the Commerce National Bank branch on East 29th.
Yezak says other law enforcement agencies on the scene included Calvert, Hearne, and Bremond police and the department of public safety.
