COLLEGE STATION – Before returning to Aggieland to prepare for the upcoming 2013-14 campaign, Texas A&M junior forward Kourtney Roberson will enjoy one last summer vacation as he travels to Europe for the 2013 Men’s Basketball Goodwill Tour.
Organized by the Global Sports Academy, the tour takes place Aug. 8-16 and features five games in three countries – Belgium, England and Holland.
Roberson joins student-athletes from several other universities including Evansville, Kansas State, Indiana State, Northwestern and Purdue who will also make the trip across the Atlantic.
On the court for the Aggies last season, Roberson made an impact returning to the line-up as a redshirt sophomore after suffering a season-ending injury early in the 2011-12 campaign.
The Arcadia, La., native played in all 33 contests for Texas A&M a year ago, drawing the starting assignment in all but one. The 6-foot-9 forward averaged 6.9 points and pulled down a team-best 219 rebounds for a 6.6 per game average, which ranked him eighth in the Southeastern Conference.
One of Roberson’s most memorable contests from last season came during the Aggies’ victory over Arkansas on Jan. 9 when he pulled down a game-high 12 boards to notch his first career double-double. He added a second double-double performance later in the season during a February road tilt at Ole Miss.
The Global Sports Academy is a not-for-profit organization created to arrange athletic competition between equally matched teams at all levels and has been participating in domestic and international competition since 1991.
