Three Dates to Remember at the Brazos Valley Veterans Memorial

August 15 is the deadline for submitting names for the annual addition to the Brazos Valley Veterans Memorial (BVVM) in College Station’s Veterans Park.

BVVM spokeswoman Anne Boykin says a $100 donation for each name defers costs associated the memorial.

Veterans can be active or retired, living or deceased, and don’t have to be a resident of the Brazos Valley.

Names submitted by August 15 will be included in the program for the annual Veterans Day dedication ceremony on November 11.

Boykin says more than 5,000 names are already on the Memorial for All Veterans, with room for thousands more.

In addition to the August 15 deadline and the November 11 program, which will include the dedication of a World War II memorial, Boykin says there will also be a special program on September 11 at 8 a.m. That’s when members of the military and first responders who died in the 9-11 attack will be honored.
