Bryan School Board Starts Over on Rudder Fieldhouse Expansion

There will be a delay in building a nearly $2 million dollar expansion of the Rudder High School fieldhouse. But it means another chance for local companies to be involved.

The Bryan school board Monday night unanimously voted to start over again to select who will manage the design and construction.

College Station contractor Mark Dudley was among those challenging a process where five B/CS firms submitted a proposal but none of them were finalists.

Five of the 12 proposals came from the twin cities, but none were among the three finalists.

Board president Doug Wunneberger called for an executive session. After meeting behind closed doors for 55 minutes with the district’s lawyer, the board unaminously voted with no discussion to reject the recommendations of a four member committee.

The new selection process will not pre-screen applicants to a short list of finalists as was done the first time.
