A Bryan gang member was arrested this week while police were on their way to a report of gunfire that left two people with non-life threatening injuries.
23 year old Joey Reyes is accused of violating two provisions of a court agreement, one by being inside a house with another gang member and second by possessing a cell phone.
Early Sunday morning, Bryan police say they were approaching a home on Log Hollow Drive, near Navarro Elementary School, responding to a report of an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Officers stopped a car leaving the home, and Reyes was among the four who got out of the car. After he got out he dropped a cell phone that he said belonged to him.
Reyes, who was arrested for engaging in organized criminal activity, served prison time following a conviction for the same offense as part of a murder in Bryan on Mother’s Day in 2010.
Officer Kelley McKethan says Reyes is not a suspect in the shooting and no arrests have been made from that incident.
McKethan says an 18 year old man received hospital treatment after being shot, and a 21 year old woman was treated for scratches and bruises.
McKethan says the investigation continues into what led to the disturbance.
Kelley McKethan visits with WTAW’s Bill Oliver.
