$2.5 Million Rudder High Athletic Expansion Proposed

Later this month, the Bryan school board will consider an expansion of athletic facilities at Rudder High School.

Superintendent Tommy Wallis says there is $2.5 million dollars remaining from the bond issue that can be spent in that area.

And the district’s recently hired engineering consultant has come up with a proposed 7,000 square foot addition to the Rudder fieldhouse. This includes a 4,000 square foot multipurpose room along with space for new dressing rooms, locker rooms, restrooms, and coaches offices.

Dr. Wallis says this will be on the board’s agenda for their meeting May 20. If approved, construction would begin this summer.

Wallis says they’re also exploring outdoor improvements, inlcuding more seating at the baseball and softball fields, a building containing restrooms and concessions, and two practice fields.

Tommy Wallis visits with WTAW’s Bill Oliver.
