Monterrey, Mexico based Prolamsa Group announced a new subsidary, Axis Tube, will locate in the Texas Triangle Business Park in north Bryan.
Several Prolamsa executives presented information about the new manufacturer. The group included Prolamsa Chairman Jose Garza Montemayor, Executive CEO Jorge Garga Montemayor, Vice President/General Manager of Prolamsa USA Francisco Garza, Vice President/Operations for Prolamsa USA Greg Wilck, and Vice President and Project Director for Prolamsa USA Steve Manchester.
Manchester says there will be two buildings, one 10 acres in size and one that is 5 acres; along with two miles of rail and associated switches and equipment.
Wilck says a major factor was Bryan’s location to the growing natural gas and oil industry, noting 75 percent of their customer base will be within 500 miles of the new plant.

Prolamsa Group, headquartered in Monterrey, Mexico, announced today plans to construct a new pipe and tubular products manufacturing facility in Bryan, Texas. After a comprehensive multi-state search lasting over 15 months, Prolamsa selected Texas Triangle Park, a master-planned, rail served industrial park located in an extra territorial jurisdiction outside of Bryan as the location for their facility. Prolamsa officials cited area workforce, location in the center of the Texas Triangle, and flexibility of the site as top reasons for their choice. Additionally, they were attracted to the Research Valley because the culture is well aligned with Prolamsa Group values.
Prolamsa plans to secure 240 acres in Texas Triangle Park, occupying over 30 percent of the developable acreage at the park. Today’s announcement represents the largest manufacturing project to date in the Research Valley, including over $120 million in initial total capital investment. “This project will serve as a catalyst and anchor tenant of Texas Triangle Park and will bring significant economic benefit to Brazos County as a long-term corporate citizen. Our taxpayers will see a significant return on this investment,” stated Brazos County Judge Duane Peters.
Prolamsa’s entry into the market will also include the direct and indirect creation of over 500 jobs and an estimated $20 million increase in revenue for local governments over ten years. “The City of Bryan is very pleased to welcome Prolamsa to Texas Triangle Park. During the location selection process, we have developed a trusted relationship with the company’s leadership based on our shared values of family and faith. We appreciate the significant number of quality jobs that they will create in our community and the economic benefits they will bring as a new corporate entity. Prolamsa Group and its subsidiaries plan to construct and operate a major steel and pipe manufacturing facility in Texas Triangle Park – Inland Port. The new state of the art facility will manufacture precision steel and tube products for customers throughout North America.
Prolamsa plans to acquire over 240 acres at Texas Triangle Park – Inland Port – roughly 30% of the developable acreage at the park.
The project – the largest manufacturing investment to date in Brazos County, Texas – will include an initial capital investment of over $120 million and when fully operational will carry inventory estimated in excess of $60 million.
The company is estimated to create 285 jobs with a payroll exceeding $10.5 million at full operation. These employees will require technical skills and the company will be working closely with Blinn College and Texas A&M on skills training and engineering workforce development initiatives.
The project is expected to serve as a catalyst through the location of affiliate businesses and suppliers needed to support integrated operations (either located at Texas Triangle Park or elsewhere in the Research Valley).
