Suspicious Fire Destroys Bryan Home

A suspicious fire late Wednesday night destroyed a Bryan home.

William Bouse of the Bryan Fire Department says no one was injured because the family was staying with a relative who needed care, but all that’s left of the home on Orleans Street is some partial outside brick walls and the slab.

Bouse says the fire got a head start before a passerby noticed and reported it, and the home and the family’s possessions are a total loss.

He says the fact that the utilities were off provides no explanation for why the house might have accidentally caught on fire.

Bouse says weather has slowed them down on an aggressive search of the scene, but they’ll continue investigating and see what turns up.
