With school buses back on the road following spring break, drivers for the Bryan school district went through recent training using simulators.
Bryan Independent School District”s Sandy Farris says the simulator is only one of three in the United States and allows drivers to sit down at a wheel with a huge video screen that simulates driving conditions in rain, sleet, snow, and even blow-outs.
Farris says the scenarios are a wonderful way for BISD drivers to have some professional development training, and they’ve had a number of drivers comment on how great the training was.
She says they feel like it’s given them even more tools to be safe on the road.
Each day, 70 Bryan district buses travel 7,000 miles, enough to cross the U.S. and back.
