Approved by College Station voters over four years ago, the Lick Creek hike and bike trail is another step closer to being built.
Before the city council approved a $483,000 dollar design contract, a majority defeated James Benham’s motion to delay the action.
Benham sought to spend about half of the more than $4 million dollars set aside for the trail to add and repairing sidewalks to resolve safety concerns. He specifically called on spending $150,000 to build a mile long sidewalk to get children walking to Greens Prairie Elementary School off Royder Road.
