Six weeks ago, a senior at A&M Consolidated High School won a $100,000 scholarship from the Siemens Foundation.

On Tuesday, Kensen Shi joined other Foundation winners to help ring the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange.

Shi’s grand prize was for developing a new method to improve robot navigation. He designed a faster algorithm for robot motion planning, a challenging problem in robotics. In many cases, his algorithm is two to four times faster than previous algorithms in terms of computation time.
