College Station Update on Christmas Tree Recycling and Garbage Collection

Christmas might be over, but it’s that time of year again to let your expired tree bring new life to city parks.

College Station Communications and Marketing Specialist Colin Killian says Christmas tree recycling has begun, and the city encourages citizens to leave their trees at the curb on their scheduled brush collection days.

Killian says to be sure that all the ornaments and accessories have been removed by eight on your scheduled morning, and city crews will collect the trees to make them into mulch and compost for the city’s parks.

The City of Bryan Public Works will also be collecting Christmas trees through the normal brush and bulk service.

Meanwhile, with New Year’s falling on a Tuesday this year, Killian advises that College Station’s sanitation and brush collection services might differ from their regularly scheduled days.

City offices will be closed on New Year’s Day, he says, so there will be no sanitation or recycling that day.

He says sanitation collection will be one day behind that scheduled day, Tuesday and Wednesday recycling will both be collected Wednesday, and all other days will be normal.
