Next March, customers of College Station Utilities reporting a power outage or another problem will have a new phone number.
That’s part of a change approved by the city council earlier this month.
CSU Interim Director Timothy Crabb says the old system, allowing a maximum of 14 calls at one time, will become unlimited by using call centers in Dallas, San Antonio, and Georgia.
Crabb says the 14 phone lines can be moved to other city departments or be dropped.
The city’s first year cost will be $29,000 plus 25 cents for each call.
