Power Restored From Christmas Storms

Christmas Day’s severe thunderstorms followed by winds gusting past 50 miles per hour left many without power.

BTU crews were inside Bryan and out in the country responding to 30 outages afrfecting 1,000 customers. Outages generally lasted between 1.5 and two hours though some went longer and others shorter.

College Station Utilities reported no problems according to a city spokesman.

Elsewhere, severe storms caused widespread damage in Madisonville, southeast of Crockett, and south of Tomball where a man was killed as he was clearing a downed tree branch when a second branch struck him.
