Aggies in the Spotlight, 2 All American’s and a Manning Award Nominee

Record-breaking quarterback Johnny Manziel has been selected as a finalist for the Manning Award, Named for Archie not Payton…is sponsored by the  Sugar Bowl, which is presented annually to the nation’s top college quarterback. Joining Manziel as finalists for the prestigious honor are Matt Barkley (S. C.), Tajh Boyd (Clemson), Collin Klein (K- State), Jordan Lynch (Northern Illinois), Marcus Mariota (Oregon), A.J. McCarron (Alabama), Braxton Miller (Ohio State), Aaron Murray (Georgia) and Geno Smith (West Virginia).

10-2 inaugural season in the Southeastern Conference continued to yield honors with a pair of Aggies being named to the American Football Coaches Association All-America Team. Being named to the AFCA All-America squad were junior offensive tackle Luke Joeckel (Arlington,) and junior defensive end Damontre Moore (Rowlett). Joeckel and Moore were two of eight SEC players on the elite squad. Joeckel is also up for the Outland Trophy which is given to the nations top line man.
