The Bryan City Council has been asked to move money to add Christmas lights in the downtown area north of William Joel Bryan Parkway.

The council took no action on the request from a property owner in the 400 block of North Main and North Bryan because state law does not allow a response during the public comment portion of the meeting.

Deputy City Manager Joey Dunn says expanding the lights takes private money and the permission of building owners.

WTAW’s Bill Oliver visits with Joey Dunn.

Dunn says the long term goal is to have lights as far north as Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

Until then, a committee continues to solicit sponsorships and works with building owners.
