Aggie Head Coach Kevin Sumlin, when asked about the big crowd waiting to greet the team after the win against Alabama.
“That was really neat… One of the reasons I was excited to come back here. Texas A&M is such a unique and special place… As happy as we were in Tuscaloosa, you could just see the people here, when we got back, were just as happy, and that was a great feeling.”
Coach Sumlin on his meeting with the seniors Monday.
“Really had a great conversation with them. We’ve been through a stretch and they’ve got two more games at Kyle Field in their career. I told them that no one will care as much about these last two games, no one, as much as you guys. For many of you guys it will be the last two times you play football, but for all of you it will be the last two times you play at Kyle Field.”
Sumlin on A&M’s next opponent, Sam Houston State.
“I would say that I’ve got a lot of respect for Willie Fritz and what he’s accomplished. Them going to the Championship Game last year was a heck of a run… They’re not going to be awe-struck or anything when they come in here. They’ve got something to prove.”
Offensive Coordinator Kliff Kingsbury on the simplicity of the Aggie offense.
“It’s a belief that, if you can get them playing faster and not thinking as much and let them use their natural abilities the best they can, then you’re going to have a better product. And we kind of go by that. It’s not as easy as everybody thinks, but we just wanted to play fast and play confident.”
Kingsbury on what he likes most about Aggie quarterback Johnny Manziel.
“His competitiveness. He’s his own worst critic. If he’s not perfect on every throw, he wants it to be. That’s not something you can coach into a kid.”
Senior Defensive Lineman Spencer Nealy, when asked about how satisfied he was after the Alabama win.
“Playing Alabama, after playing Florida and LSU, two great teams so close, it’s like ‘we cannot let this one get away from us’….It’s very satisfying. I’m still smiling. I still can’t believe it.”
Nealy on his emotions after the win.
“After winning that game, me and Coach Price probably hugged, if you didn’t know he was married and that I liked girls alot, you would think that we were together. It was just one of those things like, ‘we did it!’
Senior Defensive Back and Punt Returner Dustin Harris, when asked if the game against Alabama was the best game of his career.
“By far, by far. After the game, I went and hugged all the seniors and congratulated them on a good win. A win that we had to earn and that wasn’t given to us. A win that we had been working on all week, not only as a senior group, but as a team. We knew what we had to come in and do.”
