College Station Police say a man was driving under the influence at more than twice the legal limit when a patrolman was nearly hit.
This was Saturday night on the southbound freeway service road south of Rock Prairie Road.
Officer Rhonda Seaton says 24 year old Drake Groves of College Station was found by a second officer three miles later on Arrington Road south of Fitch, riding a bicycle in a ditch.
The first officer was investigating a minor crash and tried to get Groves to pull over after approaching the patrol vehicle at a high rate of speed.
Instead, Groves went around, accelerated, then sideswiped another car exiting off the freeway. That driver was able to follow Groves until he stopped with three flat tires on Arrington.
Seaton says two breath samples given by Groves measured .210 and .203.
WTAW’s Bill Oliver visits with Rhonda Seaton.
