Iola Elementary School is receiving a year’s worth of classroom paper products.
Curriculum Director Paula Golden says that as a small, 1-A district, the gift is not only meaningful because it helps with Iola ISD’s budget, but also because it helps their kids to see that there’s someone out there who is willing to help them.
She says that similarly, it shows the students that they need to help others.
Golden says that as a result of the donation, which the school received after being randomly selected through a nationwide contest, the students are now participating in their own contest in which the children come up with ideas of how to help others, drawing pictures of their ideas.
Golden says a small mountain of paper goods will be presented Friday at Iola’s high school football gam, and Neenah Paper Company will also present a check, but the amount is still a secret.
