Bryan Based Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing in San Antonio

Authorities continue to investigate an emergency landing made by the Bryan-based St. Joseph medical helicopter in San Antonio.

Officials at St. Joseph say early Saturday morning while nearing Brooke Army Medical Center to land, St. Joseph AirMedical clipped a tower and damaged a skid.

The San Antonio News-Express reported the chopper was diverted to San Antonio International Airport, where it landed on three mattresses placed on grass.

No one was hurt as the result of clipping the tower and the landing.

PHI, the company that owns the chopper and manages the crew, has moved another helicopter to St. Joseph.

PHI spokesman Brad Deitser says the helicopter lost a skid after striking a radio antenna. The unidentified patient was transported by ground ambulance to the medical center.
