Plaza Hotel Comes Tumbling Down

Former Plaza Hotel

After a 10-minute delay, the tallest privately-owned building in the Bryan-College Station area collapsed on itself in only seven seconds Thursday morning.

The Plaza is going away to make way for a mixed-use development containing both commercial and residential properties.

Rendering of new development

The new development will revitalize the area’s busiest intersection of Texas Avenue and University Drive. The location was marked by neglect, punctuated by the deteriorating shell of the Plaza.

WTAW wants your reaction to the Plaza Hotel demolition. If you were nearby and shot video of the implosion on your mobile device, we’d like to share it with our audience.

You can e-mail links to the videos to: news@wtaw.com. You can also try sending the video itself to the same address and we will post them here.

First, here are a few still shots submitted to WTAW: [nggallery id=24]
