It’s not a state law in Texas, but local law enforcement suggests having headlights on when driving in the rain.

Officer Jon Agnew of the Bryan Police Department did an unofficial survey during storms earlier in the week.

On his drive from the police department to the WTAW studios in College Station for his Tuesday afternoon interview, Agnew counted one out every six vehicles had headlights on.

Some states require headlights on when windshield wipers are working.  Agnew says Texas law requires headlights to be visible from 1,000 feet.
