DALLAS (AP) _ Federal authorities say they made 105 arrests in the Dallas area during a five-day operation that targeted suspected foreign-born gang members and their associates.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said Monday that 72 of the arrests were on criminal warrants or charges. The other 33 were arrested on immigration violations in a sting that ended Saturday.
ICE officials said that two firearms, U.S. currency and drugs were confiscated during the arrests. More than half of the suspects are from Mexico, and 42 are U.S. citizens. The others are from El Salvador and Honduras.
Authorities allege that two-thirds of those arrested are documented gang members. The alleged crimes include robberies and drive-by shootings.
