United Way Suspends Executive Director

The leader of the United Way of the Brazos Valley was placed on paid administrative leave Wednesday, two weeks after the charity revealed a significant financial shortfall.

An e-mail sent out Tuesday night from United Way board chairman Ken Fogle said only Hank Roraback was on paid administrative leave.

Reasons are not given, nor is the length of the suspension mentioned. The Eagle reported Wednesday the United Way board is scheduled to meet next Monday and Roraback’s job status is on the agenda.

The suspension comes amid the revelation two weeks ago that the United Way owed non-profits hundred of thousands of dollars.

Roraback did not attend the March 22 meeting with the media.

Officials said at the time United Way’s problems were due to the economic downturn, but also poor financial management.

However, there is still no evidence of any illegal activity.
