Prosecution Continues in Schmotzer Trial

For the second straight day, jurors put in only a partial day in the Brazos County District Court murder trial of Christopher Schmotzer.

Prosecutors continued their presentation Wednesday before ending the dayl shortly before 1. That allowed presiding judge J.D. Langley to make a meeting of the county’s courthouse renovation committee.

The District Attorney’s office will continue calling witnesses Thursday.

Schmotzer is charged with the shooting death of Rufus Stephens behind a College Station bar in January of last year. Last-minute defense motions on Tuesday delayed the start of prosecution testimony.
